May is an extremely professional stylist and she takes her craft seriously. I have been getting my hair straightened for about 7 years. I must say out of all those years she is most educated and skilled at the process. My hair looks healthy and soft and its because she takes the time to protect the hair so that you get the best possible results! Even if I tried to come up with one bad thing to say about her I could not. She is sweet, loves what she does, will be sure to take the best care of your hair and wants to get you the results you are looking for. I met May years ago when I needed an expert witness in a case where a client said another stylist had broken off her hair and made it frizzy straightening it wrong. She was the only hair straightening expert I could find in California. May was so knowledgeable about all kinds of straightening, she made our case. She had been so well-educated in various kinds of Japanese and other straightening, and had done it so many times herself, it was truly impressive to listen to her. I recently went to May to get my hair straightened and I have nothing but words of praise for her! I called in for a consultation and she was able to see me that day! When I went in for my appt she was so awesome! I brought a ton of stuff to keep me occupied and didnt pull out one thing! the 4 hours I was there felt like 30 mins!! She tells you every step of the process and explains everything thats she's doing. She also is really detailed about how to care for your hair and to maintain it. Her prices are so reasonable and her work is amazing! She is so passionate about her work too! She is working out of Wakeupbeauty Aromatherapy Salon in Torrance too!

Another testament to May's great work! I just went to get my haircut and my stylist was so amazed at my hair. She said it looked so silky and really healthy and asked if I had done anything to it. I simply explained that I had it straightened by May and she immediately asked for all her information so she could refer her clients to her as well! My stylist also said that she can usually tell right away when a client has had their hair straightened, but with me she said she had no idea and that May had done an excellent job and must really know her stuff.

I have been going to May for years recieving the Japanese Hair Straightening treatment. She truley is exceptional. With her expertise and experience, she is one of the best in her field. I have struggled with my extremley curly thick hair my entire life, including African hair relaxers, blow drying my hair for hours and flat ironing. Now that I get the Japanese Hair Straightening, I can blow dry my hair using my fingers and in 5 min I'm done! It's straight, soft and silky with no frizz! May is amazing, she has done my hair twice now and I couldn't be happier. I went to another stylist in between touchups because I wasn't in the area and she didn't even come close! Where other places in NYC said they wouldn't be able to do my hair, May said yes. I have been getting my hair straightened since I was five and May's technique is the most superior that I have every experienced! I just wish we lived closer!

May, I wanted to thank you so much for your hard work on my hair.
All of my life I had thick hair. Blow drying took over an hour, two if I wanted it
really straight. Then came the straightening iron - another hour!
When I had my babies, all of a sudden my chemical makeup changed
and it was curly. Not pretty curly but random waves and curls.
I could put serums and lotions in it to encourage the curl and de-frizz it,
but who wants all of that gunk on your pillow at night?
It would end up in it's usual place - a ponytail or scrunched in a band
looking like a typical mom. Until I found you... My initial consultation got me very excited and I just wanted it done! No more hassle, No more "Mom" look. I saw the before/after pictures on your website and I was convinced. The process wasn't too terrible (except for the smell) and I left with straight hair. Not just straight hair... Defizzed hair... Shiny hair... Soft hair... The upkeep is very easy and I have so much more time to play with my babies, relax with my husband, enjoy going out. Before I would have to plan my shower routine on where I was going that week, hope it didn't rain, and steer clear of humidity. I love my new hair! And I love Mayumi for creating it. l my life I have tried to find the perfect product to tame my fine, frizzy and wavy hair. As a mixed African-American, ponytails were a lifestyle. I have tried hair relaxers/permanents for straight hair, curly hair and everything in between, but nothing worked. A year ago, age brought about hot flashes and I have awakened soaked from head to toe and my hair was a frizzy, curly mess. Last year, I spent $475 on a hair weave. During the three weeks following, I suffered from constant headaches and constant itching. By the fourth week, the weaved hair was so tangled that I had to take it out. Needless to say, $475 was wasted as the “weave” did not begin to last the 3 to 4 months that I was originally promised. At that point, I knew that I had to continue with my ponytail or choose between having a short hair style (which does not flatter me) or finding a miracle.In April 2008, I found my miracle. After countless of hours of research on Japanese hair straighteners and salon stylists, I found Mayumi (May). Following my in-depth consultation, I decided to give May a try and I must say I have no regrets. May not only understands hair, but she also understands the chemical reactions of the products she uses and how those chemicals will impact your hair. This enables her to ensure that your hair will be healthy as well as look beautiful. Now, I wash my hair, blow it dry, and 25 minutes later (I have long hair) I am done. Not only is it soft and shiny but it's easy to manage and looks beautiful. It has continued to look as fresh as it did the day May straightened it because I use the products May recommends. As a result, it stays straight, healthy shiny, manageable and doesn’t tangle. Additionally, I received more benefits than I expected. My hair has grown 1 ½ inches since April, and it is truly longer since I stopped using hot irons which are damaging and cause breakage. I wash it twice a week compared to my pre-May days when washings were 2 to 3 weeks apart; so it looks fresh and has that “just done” beauty salon look all the time. Hot flashes, foggy weather, accidental water sprays and yes, sprinkling rain don’t stress me out anymore. I wear pony tails and up hair dos when I want to not because I have to. Thanks to Mayumi, my daily ponytail lifestyle days are over. I look forward to a retouch in a few months and I am grateful to God that she is passionate about her trade, as she has obtained the knowledge, experience, and professionalism to be, in my opinion the best in the business. May, I can't thank you enough for truly changing my life. Prior to having the Yuko straightening system on my hair, my hair was always a frizzy mess. I would have to plan when I could wash my hair, or what was the weather going to be like. I can remember planning my wedding and telling my mother I didn't want to get married in the summer because my hair would not look good. Now, I have wash and wear hair. I work out...and my hair still looks great. I can get caught in the rain ...and my hair still looks great. |
